This chapter provides an overview of the fundamentals of countercurrent chromatography (CCC). In CCC, the mobile phase is a liquid; hence, it is a liquid chromatography : Alain Berthod. Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a liquid chromatography technique in which both the mobile and the stationary phase are liquids. Biphasic liquid systems are used. It is recalled that injected solute bands all broaden the same way inside the column as they move, at different speeds, toward the column exit.

Countercurrent Chromatography 1. Countercurrent chromatography Compiled by- Kaberi Nath Roll noPBT 2. Introduction Form of liquid–liquid chromatography that uses a liquid stationary phase that is held in place by centrifugal force, and is used to separate, identify, and quantify the chemical components of a mixture. It encompasses a collection of related liquid chromatography. The Special Issue of Separations, dedicated to countercurrent chromatography (CCC), will be equally review and research oriented with articles, presenting the significant advancements made in the CCC technique this century. It will focus on the recent trend in separation and purification made using support-free liquid phases.

Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) does not necessarily involve two liquid phases flowing in opposite directions. CCC is a liquid chromatography technique with a Author: Alain Berthod. Describes the latest developments in the scaling-up and application of chromatographic operations and demonstrates that production-scale chromatography is a powerful and invaluable separation process. The book covers every important process design and reveals actual, immediately applicable technique.

Covering definitions, concepts, and applications, Countercurrent Chromatography recounts the developments in two types of liquid-liquid chromatography termed countercurrent-high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) and centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC)-as well as the HSCCC-derived cross-axis CCC, a versatile technique for purification in 5/5(1).

Written by leading international experts in the CCC field, the book focuses on the liquid nature of the stationary phase: giving newcomers the basis to do CCC efficiently and rapidly; explaining the art of obtaining a biphasic liquid system; describing the flow patterns in both CPC and high speed CCC machines; showing possible other uses of a liquid stationary phase; presenting a wealth Format: Hardcover.

Only the most recent ones are given in the reference list [2–8]. It is now well established that CCC is a separation technique that uses a support-free liq-uid stationary phase. Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a liquid–liquid partition technique without solid support, The method has an advantage over the conventional liquid chromatography by eliminating sample loss due to irreversible adsorption onto the solid support.
